So I would never have said I was a selfish person until recently. I've started to notice how selfish/vain I really am and I don't like it. I'm hoping I get better in the new year.

I've become a lot more selfish since I moved out of the house, mostly out of necessity - I've found that if I'm not out for myself then I'm just going to get ****ed over mercilessly by other people. I don't think being selfish is a bad quality when you're an adult. You're taught not to be as a child so it's sort of ingrained in you from a young age that you should always put others first, share things etc - but **** that, selfish people don't do that and they get ahead in life. I'm not endorsing it per se, I'm just saying it's not the wholly terrible quality that people make it out to be, things stop being so black and white when you get older.

Not a bit. I'm pretty good with my time and I'm the BEST HOUSEMATE EVAR because I always bake cakes and make tea for visitors and pass joints. Good joints, too.

I'm basically a dirty hippy who just happens to have the whole cynical thing and interest in gothic music and imagery goin' on.

..I think everyone's selfish to a degree and has to be...we all have to 'preserve' our own environment..otherwise we wouldn't be able to be of much use to help anyone else anyway...I think it's just when you stop being aware of other people around you and their needs and wishes..and put yourself above everything else, that you maybe have to wonder if you've got the balance right....

As I've grown older I've become more selfish in certain situations. I'd like to think that I can be selfless at times as well though. Jeez look at that I'm just perfect, its the saint option for me.

I hope not and that I would never be seen as so.

I cannot answer the poll because I don't consider myself a Saint. Naturally I want the best for my family but I wouldn't want to achieve all I do the the full detriment of others.
I've already learned in life, understanding and compromise are other keys to success and I hope I stick to those things all through my life.
