Default Do you believe in soulmates...

..this may have been done before but following on from the sexuality thread...

...do you think that everyone has a 'soulmate', that 'one person' or do you think there are several people who you could find lifetime happiness with....?..

..do you think relationships are meant to last forever anyway..?...

i'd say for most people there is always that one person that they meet ( probably in high school or college ) and you can never really love anyone else more then they love that person but someone else comes along and you just move on with life so yes i think everyone in a way has a Soulmate but they rarely end up with each other

I like to believe that they do, yeah. I don't necessarily think that they're rare, but more the fact that you might pass that person by in life without realising it.

..don't you think that's more a 'first love' though..the fisrt time you love is often the deepest but they're not necessarily your 'soulmate'...

No.

It's a bizarre concept that we view through our own situations.

LOL JHC..Tim Minchin is your guru..agree to an extent that you would have someone else but maybe they wouldn't complete you as much as your soulmate..?....

But you would never know that someone else is your soulmate, so you'd be really happy with the person you ended up with and you'd ultimately end up feeling as though they were your soulmate.

Different people do different things to us, and stir different emotions.

My mum started dating my dad at 17, and they are still together, so i guess they could be viewed as soulmates
i don't believe in it though

No. There's no logic to it.

Not a fan of Tim Minchin, but that song sums it up.

I believe in soulmates. There are definitely people out there who are perfect for you but it's all plural language. No way is there just one. Although I used to believe that I had to separate myself from my emotions and rationalize the slightly less Hollywood truth of the matter.

No I don't. I think there are people in the world who you are more compatible with it and are more attracted to but soul mates? Nah............you'd have to believe in a soul first and I don't.

No, not really. Even if it does exist, it would only really happen in an incredibly limited amount of circumstances and given the amount of people who just claim to have found their "soulmate", it just doesn't apply.

If you did believe in one perfect soulmate I don't think the "what are the odds they've come to you and are in the same country as you?" thing would be much of a stumbling block so I don't tend to make those arguments.

They're your soulmate after all. Everything is meant to be perfect with them. That would include the fact that you will have ended up running into them. A predestined soulmate is no good sitting on their arse in Minsk.

Yeah exactly, I always feel like people who say they do, are thinking that your relationship isn't as good as theirs if you don't think there's such a thing as soul mates When really I'm not belittling my relationship with my husband at all, I couldn't imagine anyone in the world who could make me happier or suits me more. I felt like I needed to clarify that lol
