Default Where's All The News/Hype?

I was super excited about this series, but Channel 5 have already managed to kill the hype. It's mid May and we still have nothing? This time last year we'd have the eye, eye flashes, gossip, rumors, promos, etc.

They are really ****ing things up already. There shouldn't even be a late launch in the first place if that's the reason for all of this.

Late Launch to avoid the clash with BGT.

They don't have the guts to take on BGT, and don't want to give information too early.

Are we sure BGT ends on the 8th June? I know that was the date reported before but for that to be true there will need to have been 8 weeks of audition shows (every other series has had 7), and that's a hell of a lot. The semi finals week would then have to fall outside of the half term week (which is the week before) which seems totally pointless really.

Unless, as was suggested by some on DS, the semi finals week will run during half term, and the final will be a week later on Saturday 8th. That'd be a risky and new decision, so I'm not sure if it would be taken.

Surely then going on previous series, the auditions will run for 7 weeks as before, and the semi finals and final will run during half term, with the final on the 1st June? That'd mean BB could still launch early June...although if that is the case they need to hurry up with news.

Yes they do maybe not as much as before but they do...all you have to do is look at how anxious some on the internet are to get some sort of news.

Fair enough but the momentum seems to have died down considerably. It's not even the same show anymore.

Yeah I agree with that, I was thinking you were meaning the fans had lost interest..rather than the producers.

Don't think ITV has officially said anything yet as it's still probably subject to change, but there's this:

Also, the first Voice live show is confirmed for June 8th, so it's thought ITV has pushed back the BGT final to crush its competition

Give it time, it's only just gone the first full week of May! We know for a fact that promos have been recorded, and voiceovers have yet to be fully completed, but a coming soon advert is done.

If they are making the changes, i'm sure they'll want time to finalise details, get it all correct. Some people are too quick to demand things. Yes, we were expecting news last weeks, but that's only because the eye was revealed in the previous year at that date.

I've said it once and I'll say it again to any bint who can't comprehend this, it isn't 2008. Big Brother and BGT are no longer the massive talking points they once where, there's no need for either show to fear the other - they have different audiences.

Channel 5 know aswell as anyone, that no one really cares if the show is on the same time as BGT.

The almighty Marcus Bentley has spoken. This is the word of God. Praise be to Bentley.

Wait - let's all remember for a second that this almighty ***** has absolutely no inside source what so ever, and he's merley a narrator who suddenly since BB11, thinks he's in a higher position of knowledge than he realistically is.

People need to stop taking his word as gospel and get real.

C5 obviously do... They want the best ratings possible and if people have a choice over BGT or BB they will go for BGT

If Channel 5 wanted the best ratings possible, they'd of been promoting the show all over the United Kingdom about two weeks ago - they haven't.

Probably down to the fact they don't want to waste any budget on publicizing the main series, and would rather spend it on Lauren Harries or something.

Why promote it if they've got just over a month until it starts? Why is everyone seriously so negative just because they're starting a little late?

Because Big Brother 9 'started abit late' because of Britain's Got Talent [and back then it really was because of BGT] - and Channel 4 still managed to get Promos and Trailers out, along with the press squeezing housemate information onto us, along with aerial shots of the garden.

It's the middle of May already and we've got absolutely nothing at all to go on - other than the fact Rylan Clark is going to be ruining Bit On The Side even further, and Emma Willis is hosting; and that news is as outdated as the holocaust. So there really is nothing to be happy or positive about at this moment in time.

Until Channel 5 stop pissing about, and give us aload of information - then we're not all going to dance about analyzing old exterior pictures to determine whether the colour of a fence has any relevance at all.

This isn't BB9 though is it! This is BB14 in 2013 and a completely different channel! It's the 12th of May and we have time to get things out. Really they should have left the Emma announcement until now because that's why the news seems so slow - we got the presenting announcement early.

The BB9 ad campaign started exactly three weeks prior to its launch. If, as widely predicted, BB14 doesn't begin until the week commencing 10th June, then there's still more than four weeks to go until launch.

Most of the press don't care any more. There hasn't been any aerial shots since 2011, and to be quite honest no-one outside of the hardcore fanbase is going to be bothered what the Big Brother house looks like under construction now, so it's quite understandable why no-one goes to the expense of taking them any more.

You're a fool if you think Britain's Got Talent isn't serious competition for Big Brother. The live finals air daily for a week getting around ten million viewers a night - given that last year's normal series launch didn't even hit 3m viewers, Channel 5 would be complete idiots to go against BGT. It would be a ratings disaster and it would severly limit BB's chances of getting significant press coverage outside of the Daily Star.

None of the BB staff are going to give away the start date though Marcus indicates that the date has been chosen and he knows it.

Here's sweaty box man:

Ian Symes ‏@ianiansymes 10 May

Ahhh. Just started a nice little week off from work, before starting back on a certain job that will take up most of my summer...

Fudgenuts Fudgenuts ‏@Fudgenuts 10 May

@ianiansymes what's the live kick off date for the summer job?

Ian Symes Ian Symes ‏@ianiansymes 10 May

@Fudgenuts No idea just yet.

*********

"No idea" but he will be back at work on BB/BOTS next week.
