Anyone who saw it could see that Janice wasn't even facing Austin's face and if she did 'spit' it would be at the ground.

Well, Natasha did say she heard her spit. So she didn't know if it was at him or not as she couldn't see. And she did spit, it just wasn't at him. It was at the floor or in a different direction to him.

yeah when she "spat" he didn't even react, natasha was the one that was like "omg did she just SPIT?!" and then in the diary room he goes "and then she spat right in my face" which was a blatant lie

To be that confident and call him a liar they must have the footage of her not spitting "at" him.

Though mysteriously they didn't air it, but did air an obvious fake sympathy fit.
