Big Brother 2016 runner-up Hughie Maughan has been making headlines over the weekend.

Last year's housemate this month traded telly's most famous house for the dancefloor after signing up for Ireland's new version of Strictly Come Dancing.

Irish channel RTE has launched adaptation of the BBC show, using its international title 'Dancing With The Stars'.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenge of Dancing with the Stars," Hughie said previously. "You never know, I could be the new Patrick Swayze or I could look as rubbish as a cat on ice skates. Either way I am going to bring the fun to the show!"

Well with the series now on air, it's not Hughie's dancing that has got people talking, it's his incredibly dark tan.

Hughie's Big Brother boyfriend Ryan Ruckledge quipped on Twitter: "He really shouldn't of taken tanning tips from me 😂 bad boyfriend advice hahah sorry"

According to The Sun, show bosses had tried to persuade Hughie to calm down with the tan before going on air.

But a source claimed: "As hard as we tried Hughie had a solid grasp on his bronzer and there was no releasing it’.”

“You can’t have enough tan," Hughie is quoted as saying.

Hughie is partnered with pro dancer Emily Barker on the Irish TV series and the pair scored 15 points for their first dance - the Cha Cha Cha - leaving them in the bottom two of the leaderboard.

Hughie's involvement was reportedly given a seal of approval from BBC bosses, who had a final say on the line-up.

"The BBC knew Hughie from UK Big Brother, unlike many of the Irish celebs RTE shortlisted for Dancing With The Stars," a source told The Sun recently.

"The BBC thought Hughie would be perfect."

Westlife singer and ex-UK Strictly contender Nicky Byrne, and former Total Wipeout host Amanda Byram host the series.
