i would one about a stabbing in my local area in 2008 an also Rhys Jones in 2007

I was pretty young when Hong Kong went independent (not sure the exact year), and it was also an anniversary for the Titanic (anniversaries are usually tens and fives, so I'd guess it was 1997?) and the two things got blended in my mind, so archive footage of people waving goodbye to the Titanic as it departed became people celebrating as the island of Hong Kong sailed away to independent

When I was 9, it would be 9/11.
The first major news I took notice of.

Princess Diana's death too but I was only 5 although I saw the shock and how sad my Parents were at that tragedy.

Most of those that people have said have stuck with me (Diana, 9/11, Bulger). Always seem to be the most harrowing ones.

Another that stuck with me, remember that school in Russia that got held hostage by terrorists for days and days in the early 00’s? Was just horrific. The gym roof collapsed in on everyone (those who didn’t manage to escape by fleeing through gunfire).

Just awful.

I was in New York, about 10 or 15 years ago and there was a story on the news that a woman's body had been found in a ventilation duct. The alarm had been raised when someone saw blood coming from the duct. The dead woman had been bound and gagged and a gold crucifix had been taped over her mouth. It sounded like a plot from Dexter and that story has stayed with me.
