Checkout operators (of both genders) get paid less than warehouse staff (of both genders).

So it's a bit of a thankless job in that sense.

Yup, totally different physicality and expectations.

Maybe the people moaning should give the warehouse a go, and see if they think the jobs are the same?

Just to clarify, my intention is not to disrespect Warehouse workers.

I just feel that both jobs are really hard in different ways I would imagine.

Surely it's not about whether they are the same job, but rather are they in the same pay range. If a man on the till earns the same as a man in the warehouse then there certainly is a problem

A man on the till would earn the same as a woman on the till. And a woman in the warehouse would earn the same as a man in the warehouse.

My sister and sister in law have both worked for Waitrose

They have a system where you get a high rate depending on how friendly and professional you are on the tills
