Default POLL: Does BB need a break

And im not just talking a year then a rebrand im talking being taken off the air for a good 5 years.

I think it needs to happen as the interest is just going now theres only so much of the same format people can watch.

People need time to forget the overdone secret missions and twists which aren't twists anymore they are just the format. The original format would actually be a twist these days.

Hopefully in that time Marcus Bentley could develop some sort of disease which changed his voice from annoying Geordie to sultry goddess.

I know as die hard fans I find it hard to let go but for the good of the show I think we really need to let it disappear for a good while then a relaunch in 5 years hopefully on a bigger channel and back to the original format could be huge.

If only it was given a break originally and brought back next year.

It would be so exciting.

There would have been no hype it would have launched with 5 million and died down to what the raitings are now if it was rested or not.

As apposed to a launch of 2.2 million.

You cant really say it would drop down to 1.2 in overnights which BB15 was getting.

Seriously without any sort of break BB16 is in risk of most highlights being below 1 million every night.

No just needs one new producer to take risks, or axe it for utopia.

No but i think they need to get back to basics a bit more and also not have CBB running straight after the Civilian series, On e CBB a year is plenty

But its in a rut how can they go back to basics right now? Its not going to happen the producers are not in the right mind frame for some reason.

They feel they need to top every series with constant manipulation.

Everyone there needs time to truly bring BB back to basics.

Imagine 5 years from now BB launched on ITV with a simple advert "14 housemates, 75 days and you watch their every move, Big Brother is coming!".

Well every year they have a theme, they could just use Back to Basics as the theme to test the waters

This is what I posted in the feedback survey (I'm hoping they actually read what I commented because it was A LOT haha)

That if they insist on a theme next year please make it a 'back to basics' one because people are sick of the constant themes, manipulations and so on.

Its to late to be testing the waters its starting to fall flat on its arse.

No I really don't think it does.

What it does need is stripping right back to the original format , decent mix of housemates (not half famous/well known wannabes), no twists upon twists upon twists, basic normal nominations etc

One CBB and one Normal BB per year because the extra CBB is over kill.

Get the task team to come up with tasks like we used to have that take some actual effort.

No outside contact and serious consequences for rule breaks such as nomination talk.

And the most important obvious one, the main thing that made BB so much different and better than every other reality show... LIVE FEED.

Have to agree......it just needs to go back to the way it was when C4 had it.

They have played around too much and its lost its originality ....

No, it just needs to listen to the real fans more and go back to basics and have 1 civilian and 1 celeb series a year.

I would hate a year with no BB

To the people who voted to say BB15 showed BB still has life erm.....It was the lowest rated BB ever as is this CBB and the critical reception is the same...Poor.

I cant see how people cant recognise that this year has failed.

Since bb started in 2000 we now have freeview, netflix, amazon prime (lovefilm), and sky. Taking ratings from 5 potential channels to God knows how many.

No programme consistently gets 5 million viewers anymore.

Everyone has said give it a try with back to basics next summer, 1 Million viewers is still a lot more ratings than other shows on C5 get!! its a great format for advertisers to reach their key demographic which is 15-35 year olds.

and this year was the world cup which didnt help ratings and a miserable house.

the CBB in Jan was brilliant.

All the old soaps no longer pull in the viewers - x factor etc, all are loosing viewers- the way we watch television has changed, BB is also going to change - to expect it to stay the same as it was in 2000 is unrealistic

Ive never denied that.

Im very aware of viewer habits im not stuck in 2000 im talking about the quality of the show which in turn is affecting the amount of people watching (officially on demand aswell).
