Do you see the format being changed for the summer series this year? Ben Frow claimed there would be change, but CBB17 is displaying the same amount of manipulation (particularly with nominations) and nothing seems different...
So do you see BB17 having a clear format, better casting and less silly twists? Or do you think it'll sink to BB15/16 by week 2? If anyone's heard anything positive Id love to hear it, but I honestly worry the producers won't recover from their awful decisions the past two years.

I would love a real "back to basics" BB as in, they have a vegetable patch, chickens etc so have to literally produce their own food like they did back in the day. Just strip it back, concentrate on cementing a great eclectic cast of different ages, professions, backgrounds (not just all TOWIE types and a few "uniques" thrown in) and let them play out.
10 housemates, no first week eviction (like originally) to let enough people form a presence and a few "twists" thrown in because they wouldn't be able to help themselves oviously. Also bring back the 24 hour+ tasks that would go on through the night! One huge task a week taking 2-3 days with a couple of individual small secret missions a week. I honestly doubt they'll make any of these supposed "changes" they've promised us for 2016. The producers have practically slaughtered the format with BB15 and BB16 within the space of a year. And now they're slowly taking the celebrity version (which is far more successful for C5) down the same road. I mean look at how much nominations meddling CBB17 has had ffs.
They need to take the show back to how it was in 2012/13 (because lets face it, C5 BB will never be like the 2004-2006 days), so might as well revert to a time when it was partly successful and actually watchable in the C5 era. It's the disgusting production that's killing the show most. Stop with the constant nominations twist. Let them nominate each week in the DR, in private. No tasks/twists to save favourites, no immunity, etc. BASICALLY NOTHING LIKE HOW BB15, BB16, CBB16, AND CBB17's NOMINATIONS SYSTEM WORKED. Just housemates going into the Diary Room and giving two names and reasons every week. Maybe one or two rounds of Face to Face Nominations in the series, but not every single ****ing time. The casting also needs to be WAAY better. The thing is with C5 recently, is that they tend to cast people who fit into a particular role/stereotype. You have your token flamboyant gay guy (your Mark's and Aaron's), the token black woman (Your Toya's and Adjoa's), the argumentative, brash, opinionated, "honest/tell it like it is" bitch (Your Helen's and Sarah's), a few vacuous, fame-hungry men or male models who have "connections with z-listers as dull and devoid of any personality as themselves" (Your typical Winston's, Ash, Danny, etc etc), the odd idiot who wants a career in Politics of some sort (yet actually risk going on a tacky reality show like Big Brother....in 2015. yeah chase those dreams ![]() The tasks are also seriously lacking. Previous series have had some good tasks which I don't see why they can't be re-used, nowadays it's just tipping a bucket of gunge over someone, guessing who called who a twat, eating/drinking something disgusting. All of which just makes bottom of the barrel television. What happened to those tasks that required housemates to stay up overnight, or the ones which lasted four days long. Honestly, recycle some old tasks and be more ****ing creative than oh, I don't know, telling the housemates to rank themselves on podiums every ****ing series based on what the public has voted on a poll as the 'MOST GENUINE, MOST UNTRUSTWORTHY, etc etc' ![]() I don't mind having one or two big twists in the series like C4 used to have. But only if they're planning to fix the highly flawed nomination format that the show has adapted over the past 2 years. And please for the love of god NO SECRET ROOMS. They've been done to death so much since 2013, that they've virtually ran out of names for thing and have even resorted to calling it "The not-so-secret room" in the last edition of bloody thing. But because C5 are stupid. They won't take any notice of the above ^ and we'll probably get another BB16. So yaay Last edited by Jason.; 02-02-2016 at 09:51 AM. |

![]() Agree with almost everything. I do see your point about the BB16 cast, but I don't think they were too stereotypical and there were plenty of interesting people IMO. I thought BB12 and 13 were full of young good looking people yet BB13 is supposedly a good series ![]() |

I get where you're coming from. Tbf, all C5 casts have been trashy, even if it was a good series. Heck even the C4 casts were tacky as ****. I mean look at BB6's and BB7's chavvy/fame-hungry casting (and they're both regarded as classics which they are).
It just depends if they're good or not. Like BB13's casting was awful if you look at from a non-gaudy and diverse perspective. Because literally they were all 20 years old and so were so cotton-candy TOWIE. But in terms of entertainment and storylines, it delivered and was a brilliant cast overall. Whereas a cast like BB15's for example, was just as fame-hungry and trashy looking as BB13's, but it didn't deliver in the same way BB13 did and was just nasty, volatile, and too-samey. BB13 had better personalities, whereas in BB15 most of them blended into one because they were all so bland and similar. BB16's cast wasn't actually that bad and was one of the things that BB16 improved on from BB15, but all the good ones left too early. |

But yeah, it's all down to how the characters interact, and the producers have no way of knowing how the characters will interact until they go into the house. |

No theme, decent housemates that aren't all excessively annoying, good/new/creative tasks, a small number of big twists rather than weekly rubbish twists, basic editing, no music or countdowns or klaxons at the live shows and an attempt to stop the crowd being embarrassing aggressive idiots...
I don't long for the show to go back to the days of raising chickens and growing cabbage I just want a basic level of competent production rather than the bizarre mess of nonsensical decisions and pink sparkly timebomb machines that we were given last year, but none of it matters because I'm sure BB17 will be the worst one yet. ![]() CBB still shares some questionable production decisions but the celebs are usually really entertaining and are what makes me still love the show, if BB17 can focus on getting a similar standard of housemates then the numerous other faults of the show wouldn't be quite as big of a deal as they were during last year's civilian season imo... I don't want the show back to basics either. That would be too boring.
All I want is a consistent nominations rule, not too many twists, and no outside influence. I don't even care if there's a minor theme. |

IA with not wanting it Back to Basics. That's just overreacting now. BB13 and 14 were nothing like BB1-4 and they were brilliant series as far as C5 BB is concerned. And they replicated more of BB5-7 than the former.

Is BB17 the first where people were outright saying there'll be changes? I know Frow has said there will be, and a news article I read had a casting guy saying things needed a shake-up.
But I agree - all that really needs to change is proper nominations in place, and no twists all the time. |

It's such a shame that we've not had a fair series in terms of nominations for a year now. What was so wrong with CBB16 though? I'm just basing that on what Jason said.
I sadly can't see BB17 getting better, but I think it can't get any worse than BB16. |

CBB16 was a good series in terms of entertainment and characters. But it also had a few useless nomination based twists which weren't needed.

We all thought BB15 was a one-off thing and couldn't get any worse this time last year but then BB16 came along...so I'm not holding out for much hope tbh

But I literally can't compute how it can get any worse. Unless they have a 4 in 4 out twist, constant nominations twists, and an eviction with no public input, AND the HMs are really boring. |

If they don't then honestly the show is doomed. They can't carry on making it up as they go along - it reflects badly on the producers and greatly decreases the quality of the show. I too have made some suggestions for change if you'd like to give them a read:

I'd honestly love for you to send that post to C5, as it really does sum up the key things wrong with the show... granted there's a lot wrong with BB, but at least in 2012/2013 we actually got seasons with a clearer format. I think I've mentioned this on each of C5's post-season questionnaires they put on the site, as well as messaging Frow about it himself... but there's never any response as they cant really give an explanation without making it clear they've rigged.
As someone stated earlier, I do think BB17 will determine whether I keep on with the show. Its just sad to get your hopes up that they'll fix this blatant manipulation yet we get the same crap each series now.
