They seem to be happening quite frequently at the moment. What could it be?

We all know about Eriksson at the Euros, Sergio Aguero just a month or so ago and apparently another football player collapsed last night. But it's not ony in football it's happening in other sports, there's been a fair few cases recently. I saw a video on this earlier, I'm off to bed now but if I find it later I'll post it.

I know what Alf means, there has been an unusual amount of Heart defects going on in Football lately.

I mean I am gonna guess that it's probably damage left behind by Covid as we know that it can damage your Lungs in some people's case.

There were 2 incidents in the crowd recently...given probably 80% of football fans are vaccinated you would expect then to be dropping like flies surely

All people are asking for is an investigation into the sudden rise into these cases that have been occurring lately. We only get to see these ones because they're happening in the public spotlight, are more happening that ain't in the public spotlight?

They've happened in the past I know that, but at the moment it's nearly every week a match is being played someone either from the crowd or a Footballer themselves are having heart problems, or some other medical issue.

Tbf I don't think it is the Vaccine (I hope not anyway) because I doubt that Politicians, Scientists or anybody else to do with the Vaccines would go out of their way to harm people when they need to fix the economy.

I am beginning to wonder if there's more to the Omicron variant that we're not being told about that could be linked to all of this, what do you think?

Bayern Munich's Joshua Kimmich said he regrets not making the decision to get a vaccine sooner after the midfielder was ruled out until January due to lingering effects of the coronavirus.

Kimmich, who has returned to light training but is struggling with minor lung issues after contracting Covid-19 in November, said last week he would miss the remainder of the year.

"Broadly, it was just difficult for me to deal with my fears and concerns, and that's why I remained undecided for so long," Kimmich told ZDN.

"Maybe I had to go through what I have now gone through first. Of course, looking back, I would like to make the vaccination decision earlier, but at the time it wasn't possible for me."

Kimmich revealed in October he was unvaccinated and the club came out in support of the player, a move that triggered a storm of criticism across Germany.

Kimmich said he understood the criticism that was directed his way but that some of it went too far.

"I have to say personally that some of the limits have been exceeded," the 26-year-old said.

"I also had the feeling that there was one or the other who tried to distinguish themselves through this situation. It wasn't always just objective criticism."

Bayern, who are six points clear in the Bundesliga, travel to face Stuttgart tomorrow.

i think this underlying conditions angle is nonsense quite frankly. Footballers particularly are subjected to very detailed medicals using the most sophisticated equipment we have available. If there was an underlying condition, it would have been found

You have to search for different things and frankly most of the time they won't show up unless you start to have symptoms its not something that is easy to find

I have a fairly rare heart condition, and it's absolutely invisible unless a very specific test is carried out designed to find that particular condition. And they only look for it if there's a specific "reason" to - in my case, it was a family member who had a heart attack, and was shown to have it. That's another thing - this condition doesn't show up after death, so if the relative's brother hadn't had a (then unexplained) heart attack which he didn't survive, they wouldn't necessarily have looked for it.

The point buried in there is that while sportspeople are generally subject to loads of medicals, not everything can be identified.

Unless it's investigated, then we won't know. What we do know is this is happening regularly just lately. That's why people are picking up on it.
