If you had to make a choice between fighting in a war for this country or going to prison which would you choose ?

Depends on the war. Iraq war for example then I'd live the life of riley in prison. Falklands I'd be on the carrier traveling south.

In some ways fighting is the easier option because of all the social, legal and political pressures on it. Just do what you're told and try to fit in

You could but at least everyone is in the same boat. Going along with what's expected of you is still the easy option imo
