These were done for practice as I just recently picked back up pointed pen... (dip pen with Speedball Super Black). I turned them into bookmarks using cardstock I had lying around to help thicken them up and then sent off to buddies of mine who are big readers:

They are Sakura flowers (Cherry blossoms). It's part of a series. I've also put them in sticker form and we hand them out to shopkeeps and other people just as a gesture. Sometimes if I mess up a sheet, I salvage what I can and let daughter attach it to her mirrors and drawing papers:

…ahhh, those beautiful pink blossoms, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen the form/shape close up before…that t-shirt design is so gorgeous…..I really feel that little Miss Maru’s friends…(…and lots of adults too…)…are going to be asking for designs from you…you must make Christmas time so very special with personally designed gifts for all of your family and friends……

…I love the stickers and the bookmarks, also…you really do have an empire to build with your talents…

I couldn't draw sakura by hand without tons of pictures so I also associate it with the color. So it took a bit to draw them out and I took the time to study it so I could move it to B&W... now I kind of recognize it better out in the wild if I see other black and white drawings... also stickers are life...

Technology has really enabled a lot of things, Ammi. Some freely available tutorials and a good printer and a good plotter (cutty machine) .. they make the kind that can fit on your kitchen counter and you can make insert cards really quickly from your phone. I bought one of those to try because I was getting interested into moving towards signage. I gifted the little machine and all the goodies to my MIL in the end after my trial period. She may or may not have needed a suitcase packed full of vinyl rolls (granted, they're thickly packaged) to go back to the NE... (I may or may not have a problem)

…well, technology may have enabled more possibilities but a great creative talent is still required also, which you most definitely have, Maru……I love your designs …and that sounds like a fabulous suitcase that you gifted to your mother in law, I would say that most people would love to be given a suitcase like that and I think that your family/friends etc will feel that your problem is a pretty glorious one…I think that this is going to be one of my all time favourite threads ……
