Default Recycling/Waste

Right, bear with me.....

We had one bin. One black wheelie bin. You put your rubbish in it and take it out once a week - sorted

Then comes the blue bin. Paper and card is supposed to go in the blue bin. That goes out once a fortnight. OK fair enough.

Then comes a smaller blue bin. The bigger blue bin then becomes for plastic and glass (though only certain plastic. If you put a juice bottle in they won't take it) and the smaller blue bin becomes for paper and card. These now get taken fortnightly

Still with me?

Finally. The latest letter we have is a GREEN waste service. These are green bags for garden waste that are taken once a month. No day. They just give you a 'week they are due' and you have to leave your green bags out (not black - they won't take black bags and not more that 6 - they won't take more than 6)

Is there any wonder that for one, I'm losing the plot and two, nobody recycles!!!!!

We have a green bin for recycleables, a purple for general waste, and a narrower green one for glass bottles [this one sees the most action].

It's like an outsourced service [Greenstar] we are contracted with though because it's cheaper and better for the environment than the city council's service.

The thing is, for our glass/bottles one (blue I think - used to be the card/paper bin) it depends if the bin men are on their period or not. Honestly. I have my bedroom window open and can hear them "No, not taking this, it has a juice bottle/carrier bag" yet other weeks it's no questions asked. The lot gets lobbed in the truck. There could be a head in there and they'd still lob it in

We have black and blue bins

black for general waste, blue for recycling, green for garden stuff and food waste

Then an optional small bin thing which you put food waste in then shove it in the green bin

What's funny is, how do they know I haven't sneaked a cheeky juice bottle at the bottom......?

We were given:

Blue Bin - Paper/Plastic/Bottles/Glass
Brown Bin - Garden waste/Food Waste
Mini Green Bin - Food Waste
Black Bin - Whatever doesn't fit in the above

Think the recycling lasted about a week before everything just started going back in the black bin

Recycling isn't that hard. People are lazy.

In Stroud they don't actually pick your recycling up from your house (just plastic and paper) it's infuriating! Because I really want to recycle!

We just have black bags for regular waste and orange bags for recyclable waste, and green bins for garden waste where I live.

I gave up long ago. I know that general waste goes in the black bin and garden **** goes in the brown bin. Other than that... Clueless. I leave the rest to the 'rents.

We have a black bin for household waste emptied every week.

We have a green bin for cardboard and plastic emptied once a month.

We have a brown bin for garden waste emptied every two weeks.

We fill our green bin in less than a week with cardboard and plastic (recyclables) and we've asked for either more collections or the possibility of another green bin. Nothing came of it leading us to through our everyday recyclables in the black household bin.

We just put everything in the normal bin then take newspapers and glass bottles to a recycle centre whenever we can be bothered.

we have no bin collection, they won't come down our hill :/ I bring my rubbish to work and we bring the recycling to the bins ourselves

I have a black bin for ordinary waste and a green bin for paper/card/cans/recyclable plastics. Glass I have to dispose of myself but there's a bottle bank in the nearest village which I pass on my way to work. I don't consider it an inconvenience.
