reaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan has confirmed he is keen to launch a spin-off show once the drugs drama comes to an end.

Breaking Bad began in 2008 and follows the fortunes of Bryan Cranston's Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who begins producing and selling crystal meth after being diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. The final eight episodes are due to air this summer.

However, it was reported last week (April 10) that Gilligan and the show's producer Peter Gould are planning a spin-off series focusing on Saul Goodman, the dodgy lawyer played by Bob Odenkirk. The spin-off is said to be conceived as a comedy.

Asked about a possible Saul Goodman series by Collider, Gilligan responded enthusiastically, saying: "I would very much like to see that happen. We are talking about it. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I can tell you, for sure, that I would love to see that happen."

Meanwhile, Bryan Cranston promised that fans won't be disappointed with how the main Breaking Bad series is wrapped up. "It's going to be a wonderful surprise, these last eight episodes," he teased. "I can only say that I think, personally and honestly, it's going to be very satisfying for the fans. When I read the finale, I thought, 'Oh, yeah! Yep!'"
