Default Nicki Minaj to leave American Idol

I didnt know which sub-forum this was supposed to be in,

Quote:
As has been swarming the net since earlier today, ‘Va Va Voom’ vixen Nicki Minaj is reportedly the next judge aboard ‘American Idol’s judging panel to bid the show adieu – following the lead of veteran judge Randy Jackson.

What started off as a testament to the diva’s growing star power quickly turned sour as she fended herself from blame by a number of the show’s devoted fans for its decline in viewership since news of her inclusion.

As its close nears, US Weekly reports the ‘Pink Friday’ performer is packing her bags after just one season. The news was greeted with mix review, but – if reports are to be believed – most are on the “Minaj Exit” bandwagon.

Sounds like they're all leaving (or being fired/mariah) except for Keith

they should keep Mariah and bring Jlo back, those two hate each other (..or Mariah hates Jlo) so would cause lots of drama

Why are they always changing the judges on this show? The ones they have are fine.

I haven't watched American Idol in about a decade but it seems like all reality TV singing shows are on their way out to be honest... I think people lose faith when the shows become too high profile, because when the Idol shows started, you really believed in the idea that anybody could walk in off the street and become a pop star, that was part of the magic. Now it seems like you have to have been performing for years, trying to make it as a musician, and get a good edit from the show to have a chance at winning, and even then that's no guarantee of a career. I'm pretty sure the number of American Idol contestants who've found success after the show is in single figures. Same goes for all these shows. I know I'm rambling a bit but I think the whole concept is tired now and it's not surprising that the celebrity judges are leaving these shows because it does more harm than good to their careers to be associated with these programs.

Not true. Clay Aitken, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Hicks, Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Katherine McPhee, Eliot Yamin , Kellie Pickler, Jordin Spark. In Hudson and Underwood they have two genuine worldwide mega stars while the others are all reasonably successful.

Hmm, but even still, after all these years, it's a pretty poor return on investment don't you think? I'm only really aware of Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson (whose success had nothing to do with American Idol IMO, they've only retrospectively claimed her as a success story when really she only came like 8th, right? Completely started from scratch and earned her success on her own merits IMO.), Chris Daughtry, Adam Lambert (more for his outlandish appearance than his music), Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks.

Wait what. Your saying Clarkson isn't a worldwide mega star? IMO she's the most successful thing to come out of AI

Big overuse of reasonably successful. taylor hicks was a flop, Elliott Yamin's album were all flops. The rest I sort of agree. But that stills makes it true that the number of American Idol contestants who've found success after the show is in single figures.

Glad Mariah will go. She goes on and on and on.

Shame about Nicki. Found her funny sometimes. And she's fit.
