Going to teach in Uganda again soon and I wanna show them a few films off my laptop whilst I'm there, they're aged between 11 and 16 and most of them have never seen a TV before. Any suggestions? Have a rad Christmas holiday and enjoy Celebrity Big Brother

Kick ass, fantasy films like Harry potter, fun 2d and 3d animation films. Anything that any kid would find fun really and maybe try and find inspirational films about their land preferably, that has people that look like them aswell that is always a good thing. what films has that little girl Quvenzhané Wallis? so in your collection you should have fun movies a classic animation we all love and an inspirational movie about their land

If they have never seen TV before some of the Disney/Pixar animations or Madagascar or Ice Age.

They're dreadful films, but the lord of the rings would give a stunning visual experience. Plus it would show off different climates, seasons, and environments.

That's great news, an amazing experience and really worthwhile. I don't know, it's going to be a huge culture shock. Maybe Disneys 'the scorcerers apprentice'? mind you its a bit scary in parts... Something very tame, you don't want to give them nightmares, I just thought the music in thatnis beautiful and you don't need language to follow it. Will have a think

Lord of the Rings is very marmite, my kids couldn't sit through Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings plus they are extremely long for a first TV experience imo.

They can have both, some educational and some fun ones. No harm in that; I see you have yet to suggest anything...

Yet you still have not suggested a film and continue to criticise...

Not sure all the answers were serious and I have never seen the film so can't comment.

Cant stand the film, but given they have never watched TV, avatar might be a good choice. Just for how beautiful it is | ||

I think LOTR may be a bit heavy/long for them but I agree that it does have fantastic visuals/scenery, how about The Hobbit, that could be a little easier for them to follow?

I agree though about it being marmite. I love them but if I was watching as someone who didn't I would probably fall asleep pretty quickly. Having said that isn't every film marmite? I bet the Titanic is pretty popular on here but me and plenty of people (mostly men granted) can't stand it. Last edited by Kyle; 12-12-2013 at 10:13 AM. | |||
