Long black the espresso shot goes into the hot water, Americano the espresso goes in first then hot water. It sounds silly but the taste is different.

A long black is made by pouring a double-shot of espresso or ristretto over hot water (usually the water is also heated by the espresso machine). A long black is similar to an Americano, which is made by adding hot water to the espresso shot; but a long black retains the crema and is less voluminous, therefore more strongly flavoured.

I love asking for it in Bristol. They look at me all confused and I have to explain to them what it is. I've never got too heavily into flavoured coffees. I did quite like the ginger bread one in small doses but other than that I find them foul tasting.

I normally have black coffee at home - spoon of coffee, 2 sugars, no milk, mmm.

I like latte, I just put a spoonful of nescafe gold blend in boiled semi skimmed milk and sprinkle a little brown sugar on top.
Mostly drink black tea though.
