I don't think he's being fake as such, and if he is playing strategically then he went about the whole nomination thing terribly because he did himself no favours.

The Toya fans are rigging the polls lol. In all honesty everybody's true colors are starting to come out not just Winston's and Toya's. I did think her impersonation of him was hilarious though it gave me a good chuckle.
