Default If someone killed a close member of your family, would you want to meet that person..

...?...this vid is extremely emotional, it's a guy whose wife and unborn child were killed and a short story of how he met the person responsible for their deaths/it's a 'forgiveness story'...but really, this is prompted more by a local story too me of a mother meeting the person who murdered her son...if it was you, do you think that it would be something that you felt you needed to do/meet that person ..?...

In a similar situation to the one in the video then maybe, in a situation where the driver was drunk or high on drugs probably not

I would. I'd want answers, some kind of reasoning, especially if it was a cold-blooded murder. I wouldn't forgive them for obvious reasons, but I would hear them out and let them explain themselves so that I wouldn't be wondering "why" for the rest of my life.

Absolutely no way.
He was too tired to drive, he should have pulled over.
The fact that he is a fireman might make people feel it is okay for him, working hero working hard to save others etc.
But it comes down to someone killing two innocent people through his total lack of consideration.
I could never forgive him, but I don't think I would carry a hate for him around with me, unlike if it had been a malicious murder.

If it was someone who killed one of my kids deliberately, yes, so that I could kill them.

If it was someone who killed one of my kids accidentally, then a definite no. Because I would probably kill them.

If it was an accident that wasn't down to drink and drugs, then maybe I would want to meet them, to re-assure them that it wasn't their fault. But if it was murder or death caused by that person being high or drunk then it wouldn't be a good idea to let me meet them.

Of course. But I couldn't do it as I would probably try to kill them, especially if they came out with a sob story to explain or blamed it on their upbringing or whatever other excuse :S
