Default Rate of bounce of the bouncing smilies

It occured to me that the smilie might be bouncing at a different rate to the smilie.

Is that the case ?

If not, suppose with these two side by side

If they commence to bounce as soon as this page is loaded, how long before they have a synchronised bounce. What would be the time interval between synchronised bounces ?

It reminds me of something we used to do in A Level Physics called Beat Frequency which occurs when you have two slightly dissimilar tones sounding close to each other. They interfere with one another and a separate wave form is created called the beat frequency. This would be observed as a sinosoidial increase and decrease in the volume of the two tones as they cancel and reinforce each other.

I wondered if it would be the case with

In other words I need to get out more

Or to put it more simply, Sticks:

When two sound waves of different frequency approach your ear, the alternating constructive and destructive interference causes the sound to be alternatively soft and loud - a phenomenon which is called "beating" or producing beats. The beat frequency is equal to the absolute value of the difference in frequency of the two waves.

Come clean now, Sticks.

The only reason you've posted up this thread is that you secretly enjoy using the smilies far more than the ones, isn't it?

Go on, you can telll me. I can keep a secret - no-one else need ever know.

Try comparing

Well it appears I am bored, so I thought I'd work out this problem lol

The jump heights of the smileys (in pixels) are:

= 3
= 8

So if my maths is right, they bounce on the same spot 1/24 times

The interval time between synchronised bounces - hmmmm, Ill get back to you on that one

- Mark

How many splats does this baby:
get in per minute, and does this boy ping more pellets with his catapult?

I seem to remember that, like all animals, fish have their own particular memory span, in their case I think it is between 0 and 4 seconds. So if one times a lap round the bowl he may just forget if he has been here before.................

Glad others also understand the theory on complex harmonics.................
