The late George Michael's family have authorised a posthumous single to have its first play on Thursday (September 7).
Michael's representatives have confirmed that this new track will have its world premiere on Friday morning on BBC Radio 2, according to a press statement released on Wednesday (September 6).
Their statement read: "Sony Music proudly presents a single by the late George Michael. Tune in to The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2 tomorrow, Thursday 7th September at 9am for the first play."
The announcement of a new single coincides with a message from George Michael's sisters promising that they'll release new music "exactly as [the singer] would have wanted".
'We promise we will always try to honour him by staying true to his ambitions and his intentions," his sisters Melanie and Yioda vowed in their open letter.
George tragically passed away at age 53 on Christmas Day (December 25) from what coroners later identified as a dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.
It was revealed shortly after the 'Jesus to a Child' singer's death that he'd spent the last days of his life working on his first album since 2014's orchestral record Symphonica.
Just two weeks before the Christmas Day tragedy, mega-produce Naughty Boy said he was "excited" for the public to hear music that he'd worked on in secret with George Michael.
