When I was in retail my contract day was Saturday, I haaated it. Not gonna say where I worked, but where do all Karens buy their clothes, and has big sales on the holidays...

Yep, bookies' busiest day by far is obviously a Saturday so it was a requirement for me to be in at least opening - 5pm, but I usually did 'til 10pm every Saturday just to get some hours out of the way since I had to be in most of the day anyway. I was in retail for 9 years and did at least 50% of Saturdays for the first 5 and then every Saturday (that I wasn't on annual leave) for the next 4. I did have like 7 weeks annual leave by the end though which was pretty nice.

It was a weird adjustment at first switching to standard office hours... off every weekend and the words "bank holiday" actually meaning something .
