Default Printer/Scanner/Copier

What make of Printer/Scanner/Copier do you use? if you use any that is?

I have to use mine a lot for work stuff but I am sick to death of the ink prices, I have to go today to buy some new cartridges and honestly I could actually buy 2 new printers for the same price as my cartridges are going to cost...

yeah ink is ridiculous, but there's this place near by where I can print stuff for free, but I have a canon injet 1800 or something like that. But I'm going to get this 60 quid wireless printer from amazon soon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Epson-Expres...s=wifi+printer

and I have a canon scanner that I've been gradually scanning all our pictures from back in the day on

If you're doing loads of work at home Josy, won't your employer pay for your ink, it's a work related expense after all?

So this printer takes separate catridges then rather than a black and multi? the only problem with that is if one colour runs out the thing wont print until that colour is replaced.

I think that's how it works anyway.

My ink is 30 quid and I need 2 lots so that's going to be 60 quid today.

I'm self employed Kate, I can claim my expenses back but I just think the price of ink is awful and would like to find cheaper

I work from home self employed as well, originally I had a Dell printer, the cartridges were just so overpriced, so I ended up buying a new printer because as you say Josy some new printers actually cost less and come with cartridges than buying new cartridges, then when that packed up I bought a wireless Kodak, the ink cartridges are about 7.00.

Over the course of several years I have found EPSON printers to have the best (and cheapest) acceptability for Compatible ink cartridges the one I have now is the EPSON SW438W (can be connected wirelessly , I don't use it that way) Uses 1 Black and three coulours (if one runs out you have to replace it or the printer won't print. if you google Epson Sw438w Ink you can find compatible inks dead cheap (4 sets of 4 for about £12).
Think my printer cost just under £40.

Seems that EPSON have completely discontinued the 430 Series and replaced them with the XP Series. When I bought mine there were NO compatible cartridges available for the XP Series but there are now!

Caveat - make sure that compatible cartridges are available for the model you choose (Google).

If you get an HP printer, you can subscribe to their Instant Ink service. For about £4 a month you can print 100 pages, and they send you ink whenever you need it.

I have the £2 a month option, never notice it coming out of the account and have never "gone over" so it really is quite handy. Though at the moment they'll be making pure profit from me as we've not really used it at all since kids went back to proppa school . Eldest occasionally prints off an Anime character to trace/copy while she watches Anime. She's slowly learning how to draw them herself. Fkn weeb .
