…I think that Evie Smith’s school have made it clear that she’s not suspended and that her hair will be returned to the non Melanie Martinez look after the concert very soon…I wonder if the tabloids keep space free every September when the schools return to report on any pupils/parents that haven’t adhered to uniform policy…it’s between the parent and school only and I truly don’t understand the logic of parents to have these things nationally reported and to have their child’s images appear in the tabloids in such a way…which only attracts and encourages ‘mass public scrutiny’ of their child…

I remember the same topics from back when I was in school Mostly boys with long hair back then (they allowed that in my school but not in others)

…yeah, every September the tabloids are on it……I’m pretty sure they must keep free pages for any uniform policies that have been FLOUTED…I never understand parents who allow their children’s images to be shown in such a way tbh…just because their child has a hair colour that doesn’t conform or a hairstyle that isn’t to the school’s approval…whatever happened to parents and schools communicating and sorting these things out without it becoming so national and public…

On topic, I disagree with the "rules are rules" logic here as well. Rules change when people aren't happy with them and protest/make a stand. Back when I was in school the girls had to wear skirts, I hated it, hail, rain snow, skirts. I broke those rules many times. Guess what, now girls can choose to wear a skirt or a pants (trousers in your language)

…yeah, I agree with that as well that it’s not a one size fits all thing with uniform policies and that they’re not always policies that work and should be open to change….school uniforms are extraordinarily expensive and draining in a budget and parents should also have input sometimes as the weight of cost is with them…

Again, just one big story from when I was younger, it was a particular boy from a school in Cork making a stand on the no long hair for boys rule, he wanted that media attention because it was important to him and ultimately it was media attention that allowed boys have long hair in most schools now. (bear in mind these are not private schools, they're all paid for by us, the tax payer)
