There's actually a good amount of LGBT people (especially women) in policing, so it's good to hear she's interested in following that path. I don't care what their motive is exactly. I believe her completely when she says they used a homophobic slur. That's the first thing people do before they get stupid is to throw down the card they know will get a reaction. I imagine she did not react well (she's 19 ffs) and that may have given them an incentive to retaliate, but whatever the case none of it warrants assault. Hoping the felony sticks because at that age they know better. And hopefully it'll change their behavior when they come back out.

A man and a 16-year-old boy have been indicted on hate crime charges, accused of attacking a woman at a McDonald's in Carpentersville, Illinois, because she is a lesbian.

John Kammrad, 19, has been charged with three counts of aggravated battery, one count of hate crime, and one count of mob action, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's office. A 16-year-old boy has also been charged with hate crime, mob action, and aggravated battery. His name was not released because he is a juvenile.
