I recently read the book this film was based on. Utter trash. Wasn’t even scary.

…I can’t actually recall the movie/storyline…I mean, I know that I’ve seen it and have a vague recollection of the characters/cast but I’m thinking that it didn’t make a significant impact on me…

The Naked Gun is an upcoming American action comedy film directed by Akiva Schaffer, who co-wrote the script with Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. It serves as a legacy sequel to Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult (1994) and is the fourth film in The Naked Gun franchise. The film stars Liam Neeson as Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., alongside Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Danny Huston.

The Naked Gun is scheduled to be released in the United States by Paramount Pictures on August 1, 2025.

Although 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994) was intended to be the final installment, in 2009, it was revealed that a fourth film starring Leslie Nielsen was coming out as a direct-to-TV sequel, titled The Naked Gun: What 4? Rhythm of Evil, with a story about Frank training a young rookie. The film was given the title . The script was thought to be very funny, but due to financial reasons, it was canceled in 2009. The script was written by Alan Spencer, who said he signed on to write the film as a "rescue mission" to save an inferior sequel from happening. It impressed Paramount executives and online reviewers so much that it was briefly shifted to the theatrical department, while the Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker team, original writers of the saga, tried to stop it from happening.

Spencer wrote a sizable role for Nielsen, who would be passing the torch to a new generation of incompetent cops, but Paramount asked him to reduce the part to a cameo for budgetary reasons, and later decided to remove his character altogether. After this last request, Spencer then left the project and the film never got made.[2][3][4]

Is Liam Neeson known for his comic timing? I don't know... I am a big fan of his but I'm not sure he can add anything to the Naked Guns that came before. Leslie Nielsen he aint. I remember Steve Martin, who I find hilarious, playing Bilko and it falling flat on its face. Also the Pink Panther reboots... dire. The new Naked Gun is not something I'm going out of my way to see.

He has comedic timing in Ted 2 and the Die in the west? Something like that, by the family guy creator.

I think the new Naked Gun looks good though it will be washed down by today’s standards so it won’t offend anyone etc
