"Instead of the traditional Nativity tale, the festival will feature a disco, a contemporary circus, a continental market and a giant stilt-walking fairy" - that sounds awesome. LOL.

I think the worst part of this story is that it sort of implies that people of different religions have either asked for the Christian element to be removed from things; or that the council has been 'forced' to do that to accommodate these people. I highly doubt anybody in Dundee of a different religion asked for any of this.

I completely agree with this.

It's decisions like this which create cultural divides. People of other religions/cultures have never asked for these changes, yet people in power make them anyway, then halfwits blame the people of other cultures for 'robbing us of our culture'.

It's inflammatory decision-making at it's worst.

PS#1: I'd take yer date with Loz somewhere else, cuz that place is full of Arabs :P

PS#2: Anyone unfamiliar with Scottish Football Vernacular should refrain from commenting on PS #1

Not everyone is a Christian, so what's the problem? Like Christmas has anything to do with religion anymore. It's about how much money you can spend, how many parties you can get to and what kind of presents you get. At the last census there were as many people who listed themselves as "Jedi" as listed themselves as "Christian".

I agree with you; but it still is a Christian festival, regardless of the crisis of faith, so I think it's a bit of a slap in the face for the churches of Dundee to be told that they can't celebrate Christmas anymore.

Actually I think its more likely overpaid white middle-class liberals working for the local authority dreaming up such stupid schemes. I bet you if you asked most immigrants in the area about banning any religious symbols from lights I would hazard a guess most of them wouldnt give a ****.

It is just typical of the way certain groups are trying to erode the British culture - and how some people seem to be too quick to accommodate their views. How about our views? Some people don't seem to care about that any more. This is Britain - the celebration of Christmas is a crucial part of our culture - how dare people try to deny us that! Makes my blood boil!!

Christmas is not a Christian festival, it is a pagan festival, so they were right to drop references to that religion.

Show me where in the Bible that we are either commanded or even authorised to celebrate the birth of Jesus?

They even have the wrong time of year, as shepherds would not have been in the fields in December. The 25th is more to do with the feasting days of Saturn.
