Default Are monotheistic religions held to higher regard than polytheistic ones?

People seem to assume that the idea of one God seems to make more sense than many gods. Why is it always debated that is must have been one god that created the universe? Seems to me the Abrahamic Triangle of Insanity (to quote Pat Condell) gets more respect and is held to higher regard than the others, just because they have a lot of followers. Which leads to me to another quote 'If a million people believe a foolish thing, then it is still a foolish thing' Even though say the Greek, Roman and Egyptian gods have all been put as 'myth' there is no reason why anyone should take them more or less serious than the monotheistic religions.

-Was bored and felt like a rant- O.o

I think they get more respect because people think that 1 God is just 1 'imaginary friend' so to speak. Polytheistic Gods may seem to some like multiple 'imaginary friends' to make it more 'fun' if you get what I mean.

I dunno how to word it, that was the best I could do LOL

I think many gods are more intresting then one god, thats why I think Hindusm is the most intresting relgion with so many differnt gods. I know their fake stories with the hindu gods, but at least their intresting stories, unlike many stories about just one god.

Yep, interesting stuff BB Eye but there's a part of me that misses singing to the sun and howling at the moon.

Well also today, even though the historical fact played a big part, it is quite apparent. I think it is all to do with the way people are brought up, especially in the West. I think even if they are Atheist they have still somehow had it drilled into them that monotheism is more important. I mean, it is everywhere growing up and that is why it's always the most debated. Plus monotheistic religion seem to have a more brutal and totalitarian nature than polytheistic ones.

Its not the religion in itself, its people, politics, power and greed that cause all the ****. Monotheistic religions are more modern, have more followers= more twats to interpret it for their own ends
