It's an awful drug. After watching a drama on BBC last week 'Five Daughters' - most of the girls were heavy heroin users, it's been playing on my mind all week. I think it's the worst drug personally, I would hate to be addicted to it. But I know that a lot of people are, it's not an uncommon thing.

I really don't understand the concept of it neither. All I know is that it's injected into the body. Is there any other ways to take heroin apart from injecting and how do you buy heroin?

It confuses me, with cocaine and some other drugs - I know it's given as a white powder form - which heroin isn't.

Not a nice topic I know but I was reading on a news website the other day that heroin users are increasing in the UK which is a sad fact. Bit of a alarming question but has anyone on here ever took or been addicted to heroin or know anyone who has been?

I think you can smoke it too. Like cocaine. Thankfully my knowledge is limited.

Safe to say I never knew that. I find it weird myself how the exact same thing can be smoked but also injected into the body.

Liquid form. In foil. Up a pipe. Could be totally wrong mind. I watch loads of those fly on the wall cop shows though and they always assosciate that (foil and pipes) with A class drugs and usually say heroin

I've watched crime programmes before too and heroin has always been shown with the foil like you said. I don't understand that. Does the foil do something to the heroin?

It gets burned off somehow and they 'smoke' the 'smoke'. Inhale it. I think they burn if off in spoons too.

I thought (although Im probably wrong) you heated the solid form until it became liquid then injected it

People often start with smoking it 'Chasing the dragon' then for a bigger hit go to injecting. If you carry on with heavy use you will probably come addicted in about 6 months, and basically once you're hooked you're fucked. Although methadone is a lot harder to come off than heroin.

Isn't that used as a replacement drug for users who have a heroin addiction?

Yeah the spoon thing confuses me as well.

Yeah it is, but it's a lot harder to come of, it's kinda weird, people will often dabble with methadone and heroin for years. Like if they can't get the meth, they'd have to go get a score cos they'd be in agony. And the spoon thing is where you head it up to make it liquid so you can put it in the needle to shoot up. Smoking it chills you out, but some people need more and straight into the vein is an instant hit.

So heroin is a solid substance originally and it's turned into a liquid for those who want to inject? Wow, didn't know that.

Yeah I read smoking it does less damage for you or something but a lot choose to inject as get more from it.

It's not just chavs and that who are addicts either. Chinese opium houses used to be for the upper classes. People from all walks of life become addicts.

It looks like a brownish powder in one of its forms, there is also black tar heroin, you heat it and it melts into a liquid, you then pour it into a syringe and inject it. Also you can put it on a spoon/tinfoil and put a flame under it, inhale the smoke as in smoking. It smells kinda spicy.

Horrible drug.

No I just live in a really bad area. Lots of drugs and gang crime.

Ian have you seen that herion doc with the Scottish bloke in? Where he tries some weird African drug to stop it altogether. Also Black Tar Heroin: Dark End Of The Street is one of the most depressing things i've ever watched
