Default If Big Brother could reinvent itself like it did in BB5, it could still be on air

It's kind of disappointing that everyone is saying oh this is the end and final ever series when really, it could go on much longer. Just think about how BB reinvented itself with BB5 and it went from becoming a awful boring show to this crazy entertaining freakshow. If they found away to reinvent the show, maybe a few years down the line, it would do great. I don't think BB has run it's course, it just needs another chance.

BB in the US continues to get more and more viewers each year. It just shows the concept of Big Brother will never get old. And I really don't think the show has run it's course...

I love the format of BBUK but I think if it took a few ideas from the US version, it could make things interesting and fresh.

I disagree, for now anyway, the show has run it's course. In the US, the show receives minimal press attention and is heavily editted. In the UK, it's one of the biggest media events of the year [or it least it has been] and the papers and magazines get a lot of mileage out of it. Every single comment and moment is scrutinized and has been to the point where the show has been so worn down by critics and the media that the name has been tarnished beyond recognition.

In a sense I guess, the media is what made Big Brother so huge but in the end it's also what ruined it.

That doesn't make sense..

Every country has a LF, so did the UK until BB10.
Live Feed has no impact on the viewers of the show, I doubt BB10 dropped to the ratings it did over lack of Live Feed.

It was because the producers didn't give it the chance and didn't put work into it.

Whoever takes BB12, I bet will give it 24/7 Live Feed.

Its like advertising, alot of people don't watch Channel 4 so dont see the adverts for it, when The Daily Star or TheSun put BB on the front page people know its on so we can't really complain about the amount of media attention.

Does BBUSA get put on front pages in the US somtimes?

You obviously did not read the quote so therefore you didnt know the context. The person i quoted said that it is highly edited but i said it cant be because there is a live feed so you see everything.

It is edited though more than BB UK is, live feed or not you can still edit it because not everyone watches live feed regardless of where you are.

BBUSA seems OTT and more like a soap opera.

it still gives everyone a fair representation unlike bb10.
the only questionable part was when it muted chimas eviction speech but everyone knew what she said anyway

I live in the US and I'm a huge BB fan (but BBUK is better IMO) and the only 2 times BBUSA has made any type of media impact were last year when 1) Chima got thrown out for going batshit insane (and was subsequently banned from being affiliated w/any Viacom media outlets, a big deal b/c she was a freelance entertainment reporter...hehe, yeah right, more like a freelance crackhead), and 2) when Jordan and Jeff, America's new favorite couple, went on to appear in another CBS reality show, the Amazing Race (they didn't do too well, they finished 7th of 11). But yeah for the most part BBUSA has little to no effect on the media, even the tabloids.

That's why sometimes it seems like the UK is the best place to be a BB fan. At least in the UK people know what the eff BB even is...

I agree, the good thing about it is the contestant don't ever become big-headed. They pretty much fade into obscurity after the show for the most part, which is how things should be IMO. But they are able to be brought back without people thinking "oh they are too cocky now they will just be acting the whole time for attention". And the main difference between BBUS and BBUK, is in the US version people go on the show for the money not for the fame. The show itself gets a good amount of press attention but the actual contestants don't.

So you see alot of people desperate for money and willing to do anything to get it instead of people just doing things for attention so they can become famous.

The whole mentality is now IF I go into BB, i WILL be famous. Not even I COULD be famous. The fame has ruined BB tbh.

We don't need to copy the American version to gain viewers here, the American one is about game playing, I personally loved how Victor did that in BB5.

However its more about the entertaiment here, I just think it needs to go back to the way it was in BB5 when they got booze alot, had a laugh, weren't afraid to do whatever they wanted and that.

I agree with you I hate how people keep saying 'LAST EVER SERIES' No its not

I think give BB a few years it will bounce back and make a great comeback without having to copy ideas of other countries, I always hate it when other countries do that with ours.

BB before BB5 was NOT an awful boring show and it was turning it into this "crazy entertaining freakshow" that killed it stone dead.

A BB5 revamp would not work now, it worked then because BB was still popular with the public, flagging slightly after BB4 but still a much more forbiddable force and than it is now. BB4 was a blip, BB8, 9 and although I personally loved it 10, were not.

Its such a shame how BB9 and 10 weren't given a chance

I think in a way, BB8 Was a 'blip' like BB4 and BB9 was the 'BB5' there and made up for the 2007 series but its just a shame how in 2004 people were willing to give Big Brother a second chance but with BB9 most the country turned their backs on it after BB8

BB9 really could of been the revamp, followed by BB10 that would of been even better and then BB11 and so on..

The show is dead now patrick. This is the goodbye series.

I blame the likes of Jade, Jo etc.

I think BB5 was as much to blame as CBB5 was, BB5 stuck the knife in, CBB5 gave it a good twist.

I didn't rate BB9, not a bad series but not a particularly memorable one, preferred BB10.
