If one has reservations or a slight quibble regarding a particular moderator and the manner in which they are performing their duties, is there any outlet to air grievances, or is it just simply case of having to grin, or rather grimace and bare it?

On the forum I am a moderator on we have this rule of engagement with regards to moderator action.

If you disagree with a moderator action, then PM or email the moderator, a different moderator, or an administrator. If it's a post by a moderator that you disagree with, you can report the post using the usual mechanism. We will review the case and take action as needed.

I would suggest if there is a specific issue that this would be a good procedure to follow here instead of opening threads like this as James has said. On that other board openly questioning a moderator action can result in an infraction

I would suggest PMing admin, or asking another mod to review the situation. If they find you had been badly done by, they will either sort it themselves, speak to the moderator in question, or let admin know there is a problem

Well...on this forum, moderators are part of a moderating team under control from the admin team, so therefore they do not work alone.

Any decisions/actions taken by an individual moderator would surely be reported to the immediate leader, who can second moderate the situation and agree or disagree with the original decision.

I may be wrong, but that's generally how the staff ladder works on most forums.
