Default Sam didn't get picked due to him being unpopular in the casting.
Davina said on Big Mouth that he wasn't popular during the whole final 80 thing.

That makes me want him in even more LOL

[For the record, I'm still happy with the overall choices, they actually want to have a laugh rather than play happy families]

This is the reason why BB should have just choose who went in. It was pointless even having him in the 6 if they knew he was disliked.
