Default what does a cancerous lump look like?

Last week I felt a lump by my breast. I looked at it and it was on the outside. It looked like a brown spot. Came out of nowhere it seems. I thought it would go away. It hasn't. It's grown. It might be a boil not sure because i've never had one. Can a cancerous lump be on the outside? If so what would it look like, if anyone has experienced this?

I think any type of cancer can be on the outside, Im not 100% sure though. What ever it is, I would go and get it checked out.

I'm no doctor, but I think any serious lumps are usually found within the actual breast tissue itself.. It is probably nothing, but I reckon lumps of any description should be checked out

DOn't worry though.. it's much more likely to be very little rather than something serious

I hope you're right. Gps nowadays treat you like they can't wait for you to get out of their office. Reason why many diseases are left undetected at early stages.

Yeah, you're right... But I do think in this sort of thing they would do as much as possible to put your mind at ease.

If you really don't like your GP, do you have a local well-woman clinic you could go to?

I'm fairly new to my area. I've never looked into any local womans clinic but if i'm not please with how he handles it i'm going somewhere else. It's not the first time i've been worried about something like this. Like time I went to get checked he didn't feel anything and I had to show him where I felt something before he checked again and said ah probably nothing. That's just the breast tissue. I took his word for it at the time...
I'll make sure he knows I have a list of people to hunt down whenever i'm a ghost.

Lol.. If your doctor's a dickhead, your entitled to change to another one.. Ask about and see if anyone knows of a better one. I used to have the crappest doc imagineable but have now changed to a fab one.. He's interested, funny, young and to top it all rather dishy

I just googled breast lumps outside and it doesnt seem that uncommon but none of them where cancerous. If it was me I'd def have it checked out though just because I'd want to know what it is

Yeah happens all the time that, doctors failing to spot and treat serious diseases. Bastards never get done for malpractice do they?

Nothing whatsoever to do with people failing to go to the doctor and have things checked out prefering instead to ask people on a website to reassure them they haven't got cancer and letting a pre cancerous growth grow and spread until it produces more painful symptoms.

Am glad you are not one of those and realise its best to get things checked early and that most lumps and growths are harmless.

I enjoy sarcasm. I think I explained the main purpose of this thread was not to get a diagnosis but just wondered if anybody had had something similar and maybe could shed a light, meanwhile I was trying to book an appointment but line was busy and will try to call again tomorrow. Now sure if they can see me as emergency...satisfied?

Most practices take appointments from 8:30am (but you need to ring at that time) otherwise go to an out of hours/walk in clinic at your local hospital

I'd get the advice of a doctor, or a medical wesbite or something, not TiBB members

Any lump should be checked out by a doctor, just incase. I'm sure its nothing to worry about though, so dont worry yourself too much.

It could just be a cyst, still you should get it checked out asap.

the only really good advise your going to get is from your GP - make an appointment now and put your mind at rest
