Default United Against Facism

Did anyone watch that coppers lastnight? And see the protest with the EDL and UAF. The UAF turned up about an hour early causing trouble and starting on the police. Wouldn't move back, and what do the Police get called by them when they try to do their jobs? Nazi Scum lol Seems they're a bunch of unwashed hippys that don't even know what they're protesting about. They caused more trouble than the EDL. Sorta reminds me of these student protests going on. United Against Facism my arse!

UAF and the EDL are just two sides of the same coin.

It's ironic that they claim to be against "Fascism" - a term they apply far too loosely by the way - and then seek to oppress an organisation or a parties right to free speech, and right to protest. I have no time for them.

UAF are just as bad as the EDL, except are portrayed as innocents by the media. Really does my head in.

EDL are against Islamic extremism

UAF should be on the same side as them as it is it Islamic Fascism, hut the loony left student hippies think fascism is only one way

EDL will always be waste of space until they actually do somethin about the Islamic poppy burnin style protests

Say what you like about UAF, there were over 40,000 race-related crimes reported last year. I am willing to bet that many of those involved were EDL scum. Draw your own conclusions by all means though.

I dont really think that is the point though

I agree that racism is a serious problem with this country, and that it's good to have an organisation opposing it. It is the tactics that the UAF use which I dont like. They consider it appropiate to use violence, which has only unnecessarily enflamed the situation with the EDL, it achieves very little. It does nothing to dissuade the EDL from protesting, it probably encourages them, a lot of them are just there for a fight, and it gets them publicity and then they can play the "we're just here to protest peacefully" card, and make themselves out to be the victims.

That is before we get onto the issue of the right to free speech, and the right to protest. I accept that limitations are required but only in extreme cases. They want to take away that right from anyone who expresses a view they consider reprehensible, it doesnt work like that, we cant pick and choose who deserve the right to protest and who doesnt.

And dont even get me started on their inability to comprehend that Islamophobic does not equal Fascism, that is a word that has lost all meaning thanks to the UAF branding it left, right and centre.

I don't think racism is THAT much of an issue. People can be against Islam without being racist (not according to the UAF, Netto or ange7 though) Anyway, it's only the stupid who use the racist slurs. And that is more to do with culture. Religion and Culture seem quite blended within Islam but they're quite different.

But all in all, the UAF can be as bad as the EDL. Rebels without a cause (Or a job)
