Thieves have stolen a metal plaque erected in memory of two young boys who were killed in an IRA bomb attack in Warrington, Cheshire.

Tim Parry who was 12 and Johnathan Ball, aged three, died in 1993 when two bombs detonated in the town centre injuring 54 people.

The plaque is thought to have a scrap metal value of no more than £30.

Tim Parry's father Colin said the theft was "soulless, heartless and just very offensive".

"My reaction is one of incredulity that somebody would be so heartless and without any conscience, and just calmly walk along and take something that has minimal [cash] value but huge emotional value," he said.

Another absolute disgrace, whoever takes it off whoever took it is as bad as them if they don't hand it back.

It is disgraceful. I've heard too of war memorials being stripped of their metal by thieves. How low can you go? I really think there should be more constraints on scrap metal merchants who buy this stuff.

There needs to be more regulations for these smelting places, and keep records of what they handle.

These people are thieves though, thieves don't have a conscience when it comes to stealing from the elderly or from anyone else so they're not going to develop one for respecting the dead either. Scumbags though.
