There is huge scare mongering going on in the press, especially in the south. They've been in this country for over 100 years. The female will bite if it feels threatened. Which isnt a situation the vast majority of people are going to ever be in. Yes it can be deadly if you're allergic. But a Wasp sting could also kill you if you're allergic.

I seen an article yesterday saying the black widows are here too now, they came over on boats and some were found under a campervan too.

Ok I'm two pages in and I'm still none the wiser about these false windows. I'm really worried about this cos I'm due to get my double glazing done in the kitchen and I don't want them to be counterfeit.

It seems like their bite can hurt but it's only if you have a reaction to it, then you'd need to goto hospital, other than that they're no worse than wasps.

And they will only try to bite you if you hassle them, they don;t go out of their way to bite people unless they feel threatened.
