Default Couple who took their children out of school for a week's holiday could go to Jail

As they have not paid the fines

Thats one Cocky Dad
on Ch5HDNews and ITVNewsHD

[Couple who took their children out
of school for a week's holiday
in Rhodes could face jail for
refusing to pay fines
Stewart and Natasha Sutherland
will appear at Telford Magistrates' Court
Couple refused to pay initial £360 fine
after holiday at the end of September
They booked the holiday for their
three children before guidelines came in
Penalty then doubled to £720
because it was not paid within 21 days
Now the week-long break could
cost up to £2,000 and pair could be jailed
Under new rules, children can
only take days off for holiday
in 'execptional circumstances']

He should have paid the low £360 fine
at the start.

Chuck him in jail
use it as a warning for other
Wise ass parents

They get what they deserve, we all know the rules now so just abide like them like everyone else.

IMO its worth paying the 300 quid fine and taking them out during term time. Holidays tend to be a grand or more more expensive in the school holidays.

I dont really see the problem with young kids having time off if I am honest. Seniors yeah, when they are actually learning set stuff.

I will be taking Skye away during term time and if I get a fine so be it. I refuse to pay 5x+ what the normal rates are.

I take my kids out every year and will continue to do so until they start secondary school. I think it's shocking how much the holiday companies increase their prices by during school holiday time! Our holiday last year would have been £1000 more to go on the last day of June rather than the middle if the month . **** that ****!

Perhaps this country would be better off if people were not conditioned into thinking they need to go holidays all the time. Most working drones get 2 days off EVERY week ffs

Ridiculous.
The government are going about it all wrong.
As has been said, it is far cheaper to pay the fines than the outrageous price hikes the holidays cost at school holiday times.
Once more parents cotton on and take advantage, they will probably have to do a u-turn due to class disruption.
They should be sorting it by stopping the massive price rises in school holdays.

I think it's wrong, the teachers don't give a toss when they have PD Days and are on strike, where is the concern for kids education then? Also you could lie and say the child was poorly what would they do then? Too many daft rules if you ask me.

Why on earth is there now legislation that means parents get fined for taking their kids out of school?? I went on a week long holiday in my final year of school in September because my brother was getting married in Italy and the reaction of two of my teachers was ridiculous, one of them was furious because I didn't tell them and he wanted to give me lots of homework and the other one was annoyed because I was behind on work - fair enough to be concerned about me having to catch up, but it's a week, maximum lesson time for any one class in a week is gonna be what, 5 lessons tops if it was something like English? Hardly missing out on all that much work

This is a bit of a non-point but also I think that it's stupid that we indoctrinate children into believing that having a summer holiday is a God given right, that from June/July to August/September you will be off on holidays and maybe you'll go abroad and yes it's expensive but that's okay because you have to go on holiday then... when in reality most employers would be delighted if you took your annual leave in like February, March, May, September or November, i.e. not at school holiday times when everybody else (people with kids) are taking their holidays. It's cheaper to go abroad at off peak times.
