He said it himself when he was in the garden with Jasmine. He sat on the other side, because he couldn't hear on the other.

I've only seen him wear it once. But he seems to cope well without it.

My gran was deaf and she used to pointedly take her aids out when me and my sister started bickering

He may have mentioned it, we don't know for sure. Probably after he became close to some housemates.
