Good Evening TiBBers,
My returning post is this. I have been bought up in a household where my dad would drink beer every night and my mother would have a drink or six. They never got drunk but they did have a drink everynight. When I moved out i vowed not to be the same just due to the health concerns but recently ive been having a drink everynight whether its a beer, a glass (or bottle) of wine. Tonight i have gone through a whole bottle of pink moscato barefoot, as it was reduced BY ONLY 50p to £5.50. My mind told me "It's on offer, so get it and save it for a good night" - a few hours later after my evening cigerette i decided to open it and have a glass only to find that I a teaspoon left (doesnt count as the whole bottle, right?) So my question to you is, Do you have a drink or twelve every night, or do you just save it for the weekends or special occasions? If you do, is is part of your routine? Do you fancy it? Do you feel like you need it? Answer below. Ciao xxxx |

i tend to have a couple of nights off a week, mid week
let the liver regenerate every now and then i have a month off (once a year) You need to treat the drink like living with a convicted murderer, they might be excellent company but you never take your eye off them.. |

I rarely drink Sunday to Thursday unless it's Christmas or I am on holiday where I have a drink most nights, I prefer to drink once or twice a week as it's too many calories otherwise ...that bottle you drank with the 50p off is Rose I think and it goes down easy

Thanks for the introduction, I could get used to this special treatment LT.
I drank every day for 15yrs, I stopped for good in 2012. My mother in her 80s still drinks everyday. 'So many children of alcoholics have it worse. In fact, children of alcoholics are three times more likely than others to consider suicide – and three times more likely to become alcoholics themselves. Alcohol harm already costs our country £21bn a year, yet we’re doing almost nothing to stop this curse of alcoholism cascading down the generations.' http://www.theguardian.com/commentis...d-of-alcoholic

So, are children of alcoholics the same as children of parents who drink everyday? I think theres a difference between alcholism and drinking everyday. But i do agree with your point. My friends mother is an alcoholic and its so hard to be her friends because she is very down and low. She has a roof over her head, earns enough money, but still finds things to moan about. Do you think this is due to being bought up within a household thats fueled by alcohol? Last edited by Conzors; 16-03-2016 at 09:05 PM. |

It is a depressant so I can see why her mood would be low, you can still function yet there are long term physical and mental health issues associated as as well as disruptions to 'normal' family life. I used to kid myself it didn't have an impact, I was lying to myself. Like you I fell into the glass, 2 glass, half a bottle, oh may as well finish this quite easily.
