Not sure I agree they do so any more than parents do. Parents often do so to keep them quiet whilst getting on with other things - so don’t see much in it myself.

Kids should have some treats. Whilst is Health is important life also needs some enjoyment too.

I agree brillo , my childrens' grandparents spoil them but not really in a sweetie way, they have treats but it's usually a toy or day out somewhere, it's just common sense really ,everything in moderation .

I think it’s lovely when the kids get made to feel so special by their grandparents and that relationship builds some happy memories in years to come but, as you say, I believe the majority do so in moderation whether it be by food treats or something else.

Grandparents aren’t stupid and are aware of changes in dietary advice over the last few decades. They love them, they don’t want to damage their health. Stuff and nonsence.

Not in my experience, my kids grand parents never over did the treat thing. My mom would have spent the most time with my kids when they were younger and she's a pretty healthy eater so she definitely never "over treated"(?)

It may have been true years ago, but I can't believe its the norm now. Everyone, including grandparents, are well aware of the need for healthy eating.

I think most grandparents are mindful of healthy eating and parental wishes these days, you might get the odd one to buck the trend but in the main no, just a nothing article.
