The first Saw was an excellent film but the rest were brainless gorefests. FD has never been a great franchise but it's always been watchable.

Although i prefer the Saw Films, I agree with this.

Final Destination overall although Saw II is better than any FD film.

I'm not a big fan of either but not a big hater of either as well. I've watched maybe a bit more than half of each franchise.

I never liked the saw franchise and never understood the obsession and hype , it's just puzzle torture with gory psychological methodical BS .

Jigsaw is a glorified sicko no idea why he's seen as a "genuis" . It tries to be clever but it's just tiresome and illogical with the worst traps . Most of the punished victims are no where near as bad as Jigsaw makes out when he's "teaching them a lesson" .

Final Destination actually had potential and i liked the set up & theme but they ruined the franchise by making too many movies and making the deaths more and more ridiculous and far fetched , yeah it's a fictional movie but the scary thing about it would of been the believability that these things could happen and that you could cheat death but later peril in a unexpected yet realistic death .

The BIB is what I like about Saw personally, it's a thinking man's version of the Hostel Films.

I think they try to dress it up as something clever and more psychological but it's no different from any other torture Gore horror like you just mentioned hostel

And jigsaw is just a sadistic killer with an axe to grind at the world, he thinks he has nothing to lose. Plus they also lost the plot by making his recruits and copycats continue these kidnaps and jigsaw traps .

So that's why I will always prefer Final Destination despite it's flaws .

FD. Both did well to stretch their premises out as far as they did, I don't think either franchise dropped in quality considerably enough to not justify the number of films they both have, and the actual deaths/traps in both stayed pretty much consistently good and imaginative throughout. But FD is much more watchable overall, I have to really be in the mood for Saw.
