Default Do you believe in sanctity of human life?

One of bots's posts in the poacher thread made me ask myself this question.
And I'm not sure of my answer tbh.
Hoping your opinions help me clarify my thinking.

Is human life sacred or not?

Edit: Sorreh, it seems I didn't say it well enough. Slow thinking day and all that.

I meant is human life so important that it should not be taken at any circumstances.

2nd edit: Looks like ****ed up this question. Clarification: I don't mean anything to do with religion.

Didn't ask if it's important but if it is sacred. I suppose I asked if it was important enough not be taken in any circumstances, i.e. sacred

Well, i would be with the law there I think, in self defense etc but I disagree with the death penalty

Well, part of the definition is if it's "valuable". Yes, I believe it is.

"Sacred" in religious terms, I don't know.

Then importance is part and parcel of that, not sure why my interpretation is wrong in that regard.

I didn't say your interpretation was wrong, but it didn't go far enough to answer my question.
I'd imagine all of us here would agree human life is important or of importance.
But would you say it is of paramount importance? That it trumps other things and values? I.e. it's absolutely sacrosanct, not to be violated at any cost?

I suppose I do, but not "at any cost". Certain extreme circumstances. Like I don't agree with abortion unless the pregnancy poses a risk to the mother's life/health and in rape cases etc.

Yes it is.

However I'd also qualify that with all life should be.

So for me, anyone who will wilfully destroy life, clearly doesn't hold life sacred.

There's no easy answer overall but I respect life, all life, which is also the greater part of why I became a vegetarian.

For me, life should not just be about Human life.

In metaphorical terms yes. Obviously not literally, as I don't believe in good / evil / gods / souls etc.

I don’t think it’s a yes or no answer for instance I believe in right to die if someone is of a sound state of mind to make that decision and they are not being coerced, I also believe in Do not resuscitate in certain circumstances, and whilst I dont agree with the death penalty per se in certain cases I would say they should die

I saw you coming Cherie. That's why I removed the third option. Bc if there are situations where it is not sacred then that means No.

I don't think I do. I don't believe we are more important than all other living organisms out there... including trees. I believe in the validity of euthanasia. I don't like war nor would I be a soldier, but historically defence is needed from other human life. And I don't believe in souls.

I believe we all have life for a reason , whether it be human , animals etc ,just because something isn't human does not mean it's life is not as important we are not always better than anything else on the planet, and we have made a good job of destroying a lot of it,so I answered no .
