Little Mix's Jesy Nelson is to leave the group, saying being part of it has "taken a toll on my mental health".

Writing on Instagram, the 29-year-old said being in the band had been "the most incredible time" but it was now time to "embark on a new chapter".

The band announced on Twitter: "After an amazing 9 years together Jesy has made the decision to leave Little Mix.

"This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy."

The news comes a month after Nelson said she was taking an "extended" break from the pop group for "private medical reasons".

All these young people get pushed to work way too hard ~ its all about the money not the mental health ~ plenty of others in past have said same thing and nothing changes.

Confetti has done just fine, for a British girl band.

America is the only place it really underperformed but look at the US chart on Spotify, they are firmly into utter trash from endless rappers.

...this is nothing about their music though, is it...It’s what social media has been for Jesy personally and how damaging to her emotionally and the criticism of her has been relentless and all attacking her physical appearance, I mean I can’t imagine to have endured that day in and day out with the persistency she’s had to...so a decision that would have to have come for her own well being and mental health .....I just watched the beginning of The Odd One Out because it feels like a difficult watch, but I’ll pick up and finish it later...

Yeah I haven't watched that before, I know it won a couple of awards though and raised good issues. Hopefully she'll be OK; the pressure they were under to release continual new albums and singles must have been exhausting.

I dont agree. Confetti is their best yet. I have heard people listening to the likes of sweet melody that would have slated their music in the past. The little mix girls themselves have said the likes of black magic they cant stand. This sound they currently have is very them they have had the full say in this album and its their best in my opinion

Its giving me Spice Girls teas, they will probably realise 1 album as a 3 piece then go their own way but I do feel Jesy is the only one who could have a successful solo career in music
