..words fail me as well ...other than... so just not much more than 1 yr imprisonment out of her own life ...?...traded for the many years far reaching impact on that child’s life of her ‘sexual assault’ because our laws and justice won’t even recognise rape for these cases...no words really because when will the deterrent and care and safeguarding of our children be addressed by the justice system that we look to...

...rape isn’t the charge that tends to be tried through the justice system, though ...for this and equivalent cases, when ...and the difference between the maximum sentence for each is vast...I completely despair, though with our justice system and the lack of safeguarding children...even with the charge only being sexual assault as opposed to rape...?..the maximum sentencing could be up to 14yrs, I believe...when do we ever see that applied in reported/high profile cases...nowhere near, it’s generally a few years and obviously that serving time is generally halved again...how can that ever be justified with potential lifelong emotional trauma to the child...the present laws are favouring the accused and not the abused...

Yeah I really hate how a lot of this stuff is reported as 'sleeping with' or 'having sex with'. Its 100% rape.
Vile specimen. Also a stupid one really. I mean, its hard to try and think like one of these people BUT..you would think that keeping evidence of yu raping smeone.would not happen. As a lot seem to be 'caught out' that way, especially the female ones. Either tapes, or dodgy photos they send to these kids. Pitiful sentence. Though thats to be expected with our 'justice system' really.

There are mitigating circumstances which the judge took into account.

There always is though when it comes to crappy sentences. I really do not think circumstances should matter at all in a case like this. For the likes of theft and stuff, yeah, if the person is homeless and was starving or something, or even just hugely in debt. But I cannot for the life of me think of any circumstance that would lead to 'having to' rape a child like.

Also surely the PTSD and former abuse..could maybe be used in..say a violent assault case. But not for this. Its not even like the judges hands are tied with sentencing..as they have a lot of leeway. Too much sometimes..when it seems for the exact same crime someone could get 1 year away and someone else 10 years, depending on the judge involved :S

What mitigating circumstances? Had they been in a relationship before or was the boy wearing a short skirt or ... Does the law just not take sexual assault seriously.

Vile.
The sentence is a joke considering it's rape as well. It doesn't matter if it's a man or woman doing it, it's still rape regardless and she should face a lengthy sentence for her crimes. |

It doesn't matter if the boy was willing or not, he cannot consent and thus, it is rape.

She was not charged with rape as I’ve said, the law and wording is complex

If someone cannot consent, it is rape, a failure in the system to recognise that doesn't change the facts.
