[The decision to block Maccabi Tel Aviv fans
from an upcoming match against Aston Villa has been branded a "national disgrace", the Daily Express says. The paper is quoting Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, who was one of several politicians to criticise the move, made because of "safety concerns", the body responsible for issuing safety certificates for matches said. West Midlands police said the game had been classified as "high risk" and this was "based on current intelligence and previous incidents, including violent clashes and hate crime offences that occurred during the 2024 Europa League match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv in Amsterdam".] ![]() |

It was not Israeli fans at the Ajax vTel Aviv game who were charged with hate crimes, it was men of Arab descent. Why not ban protests from taking place if the police can't cope? The Met Police have to police these people every week, West Midlands can't police one football match? It's because a lot of local politicians are Muslim and back this ban. Disgusting.

I like the way that people supporting the ban are basically saying "the local antisemites are going to act like such beasts, that the police won't be able to control them" as if that's perfectly normal and acceptable.

Presumably the next bright idea will be to ban Spurs fans from games.

All hail the Moyesiah

I like all the apologism for it because Maccabi have some violent fans as if fans of Chelsea, Napoli, Legia Warsaw, Red Star Belgrade, Alkmaar etc are all impeccably well behaved
![]() Also ignores that the attacks on their fans were planned days in advance in Amsterdam and people were also just targeting anyone who looked Jewish. It's absolutely shameful that members of our parliament were playing a driving role in this and are now delighted with themselves |
