Default Young people to Lose Benefits if they turn down work

[Young people will be stripped of their right
to claim benefits if they refuse a taxpayer-funded job
after 18 months without a job,
the work and pensions secretary says.

Pat McFadden told the BBC they would
need a "good reason" to decline one
of the 55,000 six-month placements,
to be rolled out from next April.
The government has announced the roles
could span areas including construction
and hospitality - although companies taking
part are yet to be confirmed.

McFadden's Conservative counterpart
Helen Whately said the scheme showed that
Labour had "no plan for growth
, no plan to create real jobs".]

Also feels like you'll just end up devaluing these jobs. All the decent staff will get fed up of working with people who are only turning up to keep their benefits

Yes,
so long as they go to all interviews
they may still get benefits.

But great point
Cherie, those National Insurance problems
For companies, it has made many say
No More Hiring for now.

I don’t think they know how bad the current economy is,

Surely anyone would lose benefits if they continually turn down jobs?

Why is this seen as a radical policy? When I left school I got a job straight away. I wasn't on benefits. Young people these days go on sickness benefit straight from leaving school. Insane
Get the scroungers into jobs. It shouldn't need the government to think of a 'radical policy '. It's not radical to go out to work.

As long as said jobs are actually paid. Workfare is ****ing ridiculous.

Also if people turn down jobs they already lose benefits so this isn't exactly new
