Great, I'm hoping to do some good binges over the Christmas holidays

Tulsa King is very cheesy but I like it and so does Gav

…sometimes cheesy is the exact place that you want to be, it can all get very violent and twisty at times and I think that it’s good to have that mixture…a little bit of Sly Stallone is good for the soul, I think…

I've been doing a rewatch of a couple of The Voice USA Seaaons from years ago, just to see if my opinions have changed at all, and to some extent it actually has. Although I have only just got to the top 5 of Season 5, so I'll review that one once I've completed it.

My opinion on Season 4 though (as it was the very first Season of The Voice brand that I had watched.)

It may not have been the most polished Season vocally from top to bottom, it's packed with memorable contestants, bold choices (for better or worse) and a top 12 that sparks some strong opinions - which is half the fun on a rewatch.

VEDO - His Usher impersonation moments felt a bit cringe, and instead of coming across as a homage, it sometimes distracted from who he actually was as an artist.

Holly Tucker on the other hand, comes across as a genuinely good singer who didn't always get the best end of the stick when it comes to the song choices. With better material, I believe that she could have showcased her tone and musicality far more effectively. She's one of those contestants that I personally believe deserved more than what the Show ultimately gave her.

Garrett Gardner - His surname reminds me of the Gardner Brothers for the mighty BCFC.

Musically though, his experimental performance just didn't land for me.

Sarah Simmons - One of my biggest takeaways from my rewatch was just how underrated I believe Sarah to have been in this Season. She often gets overlooked in discussions of this Season, but I feel that she deserved far more recognition than she received. Her consistency and distinct vocal made her one of the quieter standouts imo.

The Swon Brothers bring me a wave of nostalgia as they remind me so much of Journey South off the second series of The X Factor. Wholesome, harmony-driven, and very much in their lane. While they're nothing groundbreaking, they were solid and likable.

Sasha Allen - My opinion is mixed tbh. I personally found her singing to be extremely unpleasant to listen to, but her confidence onstage was undeniable (especially the sexy outfit that she wore near the end of her run) but she always committed fully, and that level of self-belief deserves respect.

Josiah Hawley - He sits squarely in the middle of the pack for me. He was okay - competent, serviceable, but never someone who truly stood out or left a lasting impression. On a Season full of memorable performers, that neutrality worked against him for me.

Danielle Bradbery - She's impossible to ignore vocally. She's a very strong singer, no question. However, my rewatch really highlighted how much I found her Disney-esque performances to be quite boring. Polished and safe. It was effective, but it lacked excitement for me personally.

Judith Hill - Technically fine, but emotionally flat, her performances never seemed to ignite in my view, making her run feel far less impactful than it should have been on paper.

Michelle Chamuel - One of the true highlights of the Season. Weird, highly entertaining, and surprisingly talented, she brought something genuinely different to the stage. Even though she had weaker performances like Clarity and Why, her originality and willingness to lean into her eccentricity made her endlessly watchable.

Kris Thomas - I would rather watch an Aston Villa match tbh.

Amber Carrington - She had a good voice and absolutely nailed Sad, proving what she was capable of when everything clicked. That said, her other performances were more uneven, making her journey feel inconsistent rather than fully realized.

Overall, Season 4 reinforces itself as a Season of contrasts - big voices, underrated gems, and a few acts that haven't aged well. It might not be perfect, but it's certainly memorable and entertaining.
