Stan Kroenke has increased his stake in Arsenal to 29.9%, it has been confirmed in a statement to the Stock Exchange.

This moves Kroenke close to the threshold whereby he would have to make an offer for all the shares in the football club.

The Denver-based business has purchased a further 200 shares in the club's parent holding company. When he reaches 29.99% he will be able to launch a full takeover.

Kroenke purchased 100 of those shares from Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood.

0.09% from takeover bid.

Win this week would be massive.

Man utd 3 points above us so if they loss we could be level with a game in hand, if they drew we would be 1 point behind with game in hand.

If Utd won then chelsea would only be 2 points above us, we have a game in hand over them to.

Chelsea's transfer ban has been temporarily suspended by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) pending a final decision on the matter.

Fifa had ruled the club could not sign players until 2011 after inducing Gael Kakuta to break his Lens contract.

But Chelsea appealed to Cas, which said on Friday: "Such sanctions are now stayed until the Cas renders its final decision in this matter."

The decision means Chelsea could be able to sign players in January.

No date has been given for a final decision from Cas.

Fifa had banned the Premier League leaders in September from any activity during the next two transfer windows after they were found guilty of inducing Kakuta, now aged 18, to breach his contract with French club Lens in 2007.

Under the terms of the original Fifa punishment, French teenager Kakuta was ordered to pay compensation of 780,000 euros (Ł710,000), for which Chelsea were "jointly and severally liable".

Chelsea were also told to pay Lens "training compensation" of 130,000 euros (Ł118,000).

English clubs will discuss Rangers and Celtic EPL move next week

Despite Richard Scudamore, the chief executive of the Premier League, voicing his doubts about the admittance of Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers to the English Premier League, the matter is on the agenda for the clubs' meeting next week.

'The proposal by Bolton Wanderers' chairman, Phil Gartside, for an expanded two-division Premier League which would include Celtic and Rangers has been revived and is on the agenda for next Thursday's Premier League clubs' meeting,' reports The Guardian.

The desire of both clubs to quit Scottish soccer was only enhanced this summer, when the collapse of Irish broadcaster Setanta saw the league's television revenues cut dramatically. The renogotiation of the SPL's rights, in a deal with Sky Sports and ESPN, halved the league's broadcast income. The champions of the SPL now receive less television money than the club that finishes bottom of the English Premier League.

'Both Celtic and Rangers, who have long looked to escape from the Scottish Premier League in which they are by far the biggest clubs, would welcome an invitation from the elite English league,' adds The Guardian. 'However, any Premier League rule change requires 14 clubs to vote in favour. Gartside has a great deal of lobbying to do before his plan has any chance of succeeding.'

End of the Spl dominance for these 2 clubs?

For me i say why should they go straight to premiership, watching them play its quite obvious neither team would make it into the europa league. Rangers would finish 8 - 11th

Celtic would finish at like 10 - 15th position.

Not really worth it for them i dont think they wouldnt be winning titles.

10!?!?! I know he is an amazing talent but I'd say at maximum 6m.

Everton manager David Moyes has backed proposals for a two-tier Premier League involving Celtic and Rangers.

The idea, suggested by Bolton chairman Phil Gartside, will be discussed by Premier League clubs next week.

"I'd like to see it because I'm a Scotsman and I think it would be great to see Celtic and Rangers initially in a Premier League Two," said Moyes.

"TV would be interested, media would be interested and the crowds at every ground in the country would increase."

Moyes added: "Both Celtic and Rangers have as big a support as any team in England. From that point of view it would help the game in England if we need a boost in revenue."

Gartside's plan, initially proposed last year, involves the Premier League being expanded into two divisions of 18 teams.

The inclusion of Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers could lead to an increase in television revenue that would be spread across a greater number of teams.

Gartside, one of the longest-serving chairmen in the top flight, said when he first floated the idea that he felt it would make the Premier League more competitive.

The proposals have struggled to gain support, with the top clubs keen to protect the status quo. Any change to the Premier League rules would require 14 clubs to vote in favour.

"I would rather this than an Atlantic league, or some other European league," said Moyes, a former Celtic player. "We have Welsh teams playing in English football so why not Scottish?

"The Scottish teams are really, really big clubs and I feel it would be good for everyone.

I think they should leave SPL as it is. It works and it's great... but meh. People need to stop insulting the style of play etc in SPL - it's obvious why. It's got no reputation so never attracts BIG players, less money, less funding, less attendance (small country). It's not comparable to English clubs.
