Remembering Kerry

No one wants the period 1978/9 back I am sure of that and really it couldn't return because of the laws now banning Union secondary picketing, that was a major part of the problem with strikes.
Just as, and some people seem to forget this one, no one wants the 3 day week, with also the endless power cuts that existed during the Conservative Govt of Ted Heath between 1970 and 1974. The winter of 1973/4 must have been as bad as 1978/9 and that was nothing to do with Labour, it was Ted Heath who failed to settle a deal that had that strike going on and on. The Unions needed curbing but they acted against both Govts, Conservative and Labour, so it would seem fairly likely they didn't get from Labour what they wanted either when Labour was in Govt. I groaned when I saw it was Finchley last night, another sort of tribute programme to her. Ming Campbell had to keep saying he wasn't a supporter of Margaret Thatcher because all he was saying was looking like the opposite. I found it a rather weak programme really which I expected once I saw where it was from anyway. The only revealing thing was Ken Clarke stating he was surprised that Parliament had been recalled for the tribute,it was something he said that had never been done before so why was it? Nothing that man says could ever be funny. 'Whites have become black' is far from amusing
![]() I'll start watching it on the live iPlayer rewind feature in a minute |

It's saddening to hear all these audience members defending UKIP's corner or admitting they voted for them. Some good points raised by them of course, that it's as a protest vote or because they feel disenchanted, so I understand the reasonings - but that just makes it all the more terrifying.

This wasn't a bad QT this week, Jo Swinson annoys me and so does Jerry Hayes but surprisingly some constructive and more consensual politics reared its head tonight on the programme.
I still wish David Dimbleby would just chair the proceedings though and not ask more questions than the audience does. |

Should be an interesting show tonight. Hopefully I won't be shouting at the TV too much...
Tonight's panel: https://twitter.com/bbcquestiontime/...78541979926529 Six panelists for the first time ever as opposed to five. |

^ Didn't realise it's in Belfast lol which is a better explanation as to why the N Ireland politicians are on it. Actually thought that both Ian Paisley and the Sinn Fein guy raised valid points about extremism

Maybe the money these companies make should be taxed as they make it, then they wouldn't have the chance to send it off shore.

Great show tonight, one of the best I've seen. Thankfully only one odious person on the panel too in the form of Ian Paisley Jnr, who is a vile, repugnant, arrogant, backwards, bigoted, nasty pig ***** (yeah, I don't like him...who'd have thought it eh). A truly appalling human being.
Peter Tatchell was good as was the guy who used to be a radical himself. Loved when he said 'Mr Ian Paisley Jr, you’re yesterday’s news...' ![]() Also thought six panelists worked really well, they should do that every week. |
