Subforums are merely a way to organise the forum to make it easier to find specific threads. And since LGBT+ topics are very common on this forum it wouldn't be unusual for it to have a subform for all of those discussion threads.

Unless I misunderstand the OP and she literally wants an LGBT only club to be away from everyone else. In which case I agree with you.

And tbh, on a forum with pointless subforums like bloody Dancing on Ice (who watches THAT?) they deserve one too.

I asked for a Relationships/Spirituality forum some time back but that probably won't be taken up... The LGBT section though makes sense for the amount of topics that it generates. I don't see it as a dedicated section for one portion of the userbase. I look at it as a new topic area, that all folk can participate in... I think healthier than reserving those discussion for India/SD, where the more emotional sides of it tend to get lost in the sea of politics... if it makes sense.

If they made into a Relationships/Sexuality area with LGBT in descriptor, then I would be peachy keen. We had a section like this in a forum I was very active on many moons ago and it was a lively area... I think it would make the forum much more sexy for me

I think given the replies in this thread about whats wanting to be talked about...I think an over 18 area is needed more In an LGBT+ area, there still would not be talks of anal sex and such tbh, sorry about that. If you want that, use the over 18s social group. james is a bit worried as advertisers were not impressed with some things posted on here and had to go through deleting some older stuff, so we have to be more careful.

However overall I figure it would probably be used more than some of the existing forums. Also agree with the drag race forum being basically this anyway

Honestly, if I had my way half of the existing subforums would be gone, serious debates would be separated from news+celeb and the subforums menu would be cleaned up a bit. Along with agreeing with the competition suggested for a new forum skin, which could be LGBT themed anyway (would be pretty at least) and a few other changes, including removal of the swear filter and huge changes to the infraction system as its clearly not working properly, and possibly some kind of donation thing where those who donate would get certain privileges (which was actually James' idea to help with the server costs if advertisers pull out but I haven't seen it mentioned again since then).

Alas, its not my forum. So this post is probably pointless except for being a bit of a rant.

I think the issue with the donations thing though, is that people would say that those who are donating are being treat differently in terms of moderation, and also people might think if they do donate they will never be banned, and neither of which will be true. Did you run into that twosugars? Its the only problem I can see with it, but overall I think its a good idea as we won't have to rely on advertisers quite as much
